Dr Ruth Burrell is a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist and a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society. She has completed post-doctoral MSc training in Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Glasgow and is entered on the Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists (SRCN), the recognised gold standard for clinical neuropsychology practice in the UK.

She currently works part-time as an associate of Rowley Clinical Neuropsychology Services Ltd, where she provides treating-clinician services in the context of serious and catastrophic injury litigation, and part-time within the NHS as the Head of Neuropsychology for NHS Dumfries and Galloway.

Across her clinical roles she has developed strong skills in using psychological theory to guide assessment, formulation and intervention planning, with the client held at the centre of her work. She works with individuals across the lifespan presenting with a wide range of neurological conditions. Her work includes completing neuropsychological assessments with clients and their families to develop formulations that help understand the cognitive, emotional and behavioural consequences of acquired brain injury and other neurological conditions.

She has extensive experience in neurorehabilitation, including developing and delivering person-centred rehabilitation plans, supporting clients to maximise functional independence, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, goal-driven intervention. Her roles have also involved risk assessment and risk management, particularly in the context of cognitive impairment, emotional dysregulation and behavioural change following neurological injury or illness.

She has significant experience sharing formulations with other professionals and working systemically across multiple agencies. She is trained in a number of psychological therapies, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
