Dr. John Wilson is a Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered practitioner (clinical) psychologist with three years of post-qualification experience in inpatient, outpatient, and community neuropsychology services. In these roles, he has applied his expertise to support individuals affected by traumatic brain injury and other neurological conditions.
Dr. Wilson has undertaken additional training in clinical neuropsychology following the completion of his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. He is proficient in neuropsychological assessment, the formulation of presenting difficulties, the development of rehabilitation interventions, and risk management within multidisciplinary teams. His work frequently involves the application of the Mental Capacity Act and systemic collaboration with the networks supporting individuals impacted by brain injuries and other neurological conditions.
Dr. Wilson assists individuals in adjusting to brain injuries, as well as physical and psychological trauma, employing therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy. He also supervises trainee clinical psychologists working in neuropsychology services and has lectured on topics including stroke, applied psychometrics, and cognitive assessment as part of the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology program at Newcastle University.
